We are here. We are now going on week number 3. All is going fairly smoothly and we are adjusting to life here. Nice thing is the slower pace. We are very much enjoying having Mike home and love hanging out after truly 6 months of transition and 2 months of craziness.
LAX - God got that airport ready for us to come. when we came through the doors with 15 Rubbermaid boxes, a guitar, a baby bed and 7 backpacks, a laptop and 5 children; all they had practiced about terrorist came in handy. We had 3 guys come up and take care of all of our luggage. We had it on carts and they found us more carts and piled everything up. They then pushed me to the front of the line to get our tickets processed. They did not weigh all of our luggage and did not charge us for the extra pieces. It truly was a miracle. Going through security was fun and quite the adventure. Everywhere we went, when people saw all of our kids they gave us special treatment. I guess the look of horror on my face was enough to move mountains.
We all were so tired that the kids zonked out right away on the plane. The Dramamine didn't hurt either. They all slept most of the 15 hour flight and then had fun with their backpacks the rest of the time. We had a small layover in Hong Kong and we chilled most of the time. Then back on the plane for another 5 hours. This flight seemed so long because no one slept. Cosette's eyes were burning but she did not want to stop watching her movie to sleep.
Once we got to Jakarta Indonesia, God provided a man to take care of us. He got us through customs and took all our paperwork and got it processed. Then we had to pick up allllllllllllllllllll our luggage and transfer it all to another plane. This took forever, it felt like. They ended up charging us for overweight. We were $300 over the limit. The national airlines changed their policy for luggage and there was no way we would make it. But thanks to God for his provision and we had the money to pay the over fee. Now we waited for another plane. This flight was only 1 hour and it was great. Poor Cosette finally fell asleep 15 min. into the flight. No movies on this one.
We finally arrived in Semarang. Our friends and co-workers The Webbs met us there. They had to bring a school bus to pick us up. Now we had a 2 hour bus ride to our home. All of us were snoring on the bus. We were so tired. It was 6p.m. when we landed in Semarang. We arrived at our house around 8 p.m. and the Webbs had ordered pizza for us. Nothing tasted better. We all took showers and went to bed. That was day 1.
